OUTSOURCE 3D MODELING

Since 2005 as the part of our 3d modeling outsource service we have been contacted by number of storytellers and writers to visualise and give shape to their lead characters. We strongly believe as an expert team of 3D Character Modelers our role is not restricted to merely giving shapes (3d design) to these artist’s thoughts but goes beyond in visualising how these characters are going to interact with their surrounding including each other. In this article we present some tips to create these 3d character models.
As we initially pointed out its important to understand and visualise how is the subjected 3d character going to act and react at as a 3d model i.e. most important is to keep margins for  the expressions and body language. A shy character could also behave outspoken a times and an outspoken character may behave introverted.
Visualise and look upon your character as a human being, i.e. how a human would behave in certain situation and the kind of conflicting behaviours he/she would exhibit. Give your 3D character that sense of conflicting behaviour for example in your 3D model aims to fly high and has high dreams and aspirations at the same time you need to present a little confused state with some doubts in your character’s mind (similar to the behaviour exhibited by any human)

3D MODELING OUTSOURCING

One of the best features we recommend is to use the background color, scheme and layout as an add-on expression of your 3d model inner feelings also the physical appearance of your character would play the most important role apart from 3d character’s expressions. Under our 3d modeling service we make sure the character is not only able to express itself but also we ensure that the character is behaving and interacting in lines with the artist’s experiences. A 3d character struggling with depression may exhibit signs of weight loss, untidy hair or fatigue on the other hand a happy 3d model would have a sparkle in its wide open eyes and an open body language.
Finally in our 3d modeling service we encourage artists to draw their life experiences i.e. keeping themselves in the place of character before drawing it to make sure our 3d character is exhibiting similar behaviour.

POINT AND FLAT SHADING
The first step to successful pencil shading is to control the movement of your pencil by making sure that every mark you make on the paper works towards creating the shading or exhibiting effect that you want. Side shading has a grainier, softer look and covers a large area quickly Using a sharp point to shade allows one to control more and you can do much finer work and get a greater range of tone out of the pencil.

Circular shading
Use a light touch with the pencil and work an area in an irregular, overlapping pattern to gradually build up the graphite on the page.

Use line weight in shading
When using directional shading one can change the pressure on the pencil to create light and dark tones. Monitoring it very precisely can allow one to model smooth forms. A more relaxed approach to lifting and re-weighting the pencil for a fairly nonstop line is useful for creating highlights across textures like hair or grass.

OUTSOURCE 3D MODELING

Irregular shading
Change the pencil direction at irregular intervals, making one stroke long and then next short, overlapping where needed this will prevent unwanted banding through shaded area.

Pencil shading problem
When pencil shading, the first thing most people do is to move the pencil back and forth in a regular pattern, with the ‘turn’ at the end of each movement roughly parallel. The trouble is that when you use this technique to shade a large area that even edge gives you a dark line through your area of tone. Sometimes it is only delicate but often it looks very clear and disturbs the illusion that you are trying to create with your pencil shading.

3-D modelling is the use of software to create a virtual three-dimensional model of some physical object.3-D modelling is used in many different industries including virtual reality, video games, 3D printing, marketing, TV and motion pictures, scientific and medical imaging and computer-aided design and manufacturing CAD/CAM.3-D modelling software generates a model through a variability of tools and approaches including simple polygons,3-D primitives — simple polygon-based shapes, such as pyramids, cubes, spheres, cylinders and cones, spline curves,NURBS (non-uniform rational b-spline) — smooth shapes defined by bezel curves which are relatively computationally complex.
Concerting
This is usually the initial step in any project. Here you jump with really just guessing out what you want to make. There isn’t really one way to do this as the mindset of whatever works is king at this stage. The point is to get an idea of what one want their final image to look like.A conceptual model is a representation of a system made of the configuration of concepts which are used to help people know, understand or simulate a subject the model represents. Some models are physical objects for example a toy model which may be assembled and may be made to work like the object it represents. The term conceptual model may be used to refer to models which are shaped after a conceptualisation or generalisation process. Conceptual models are often ideas of things in the real world whether physical or social. Semantics studies are relevant to various stages of concept formation and use as Semantics is basically about concepts.

Modelling
In 3D, the basic building blocks are polygons rather than stone, wood, or clay. 3D model in games and movies are made out of polygons.
All 3D applications can do polygon modeling to some extent where some are better than others. Polygonal modeling is very precise. Modeling is the process of taking a shape and molding it into a completed 3D mesh. The most typical means of creating a 3D model is to take a simple object, called a primitive, and extend or “grow” it into a shape that can be refined and detailed. Primitives can be anything from a single point (called a vertex), a two-dimensional line (an edge), a curve (a spline), to three dimensional objects (faces or polygons).
Texturing
Its method for defining high frequency detail, surface texture, or color information on a computer-generated graphic or 3D model.Or it means asmapping is a method for defining high frequency detail, surface texture, or color information on a computer-generated graphic or 3D model. Its application to 3Dgraphics was pioneered by Edwin Catmull in 1974.

3D modeling is the process of creating a 3D representation of any surface or object by influencing polygons, edges, and vertices in simulated 3D space. 3D modeling can be accomplished by hand with specialised 3D production software that lets an artist to make and deform polygonal surfaces or by scanning real-world objects into a set of data points that can be used to signify the object digitally.

3D Modeling is used in a extensive range of fields including flim, engineering, entertainment design, visual effects, game development, and commercial advertising. The most famous and common  example would be the modern rebirth of 3D technology in major motion pictures where this technology is used which started with the success of the film Avatar the 2009 blockbuster from director James Cameron. The film helped to transform the 3D industry and used many of the concepts of 3D modeling. 3D modeling is closely connected to the concepts of digital sculpting and polygonal mesh.

Types of 3D Models

There are two main types of 3D models that are used in the film & games industry and the most superficial differences being in the way they’re created and manipulated
NURBS Surface:
NURBS (nonuniform rational B-splines) are mathematical representations of 2- or 3-dimensional objects which can be standard shapes such as a cone or free-form shapes such as a car. NURBS are used in computer graphics and the CAD/CAM industry and have come to be considered as a standard way to create and signify complex objects. In addition to curves and surfaces NURBS can also represent hyper surfaces.
Polygonal Model: Polygonal models as they’re often called are the most common form of 3D model found in the animation, film, and games industry.

The Components of a Polygonal Model are
  • Faces: The defining characteristic of a polygonal model is that polygonal meshes are faceted; meaning the surface of the 3D model is comprised of hundreds or thousands of geometric faces.

Computer vision covers the building of integrated vision systems and the application of vision to glitches of real-world importance. The process of creating 3D models is still rather problematic requiring mechanical measurement of the camera positions or manual configuration of partial 3D views of a scene. However using algorithms, it is possible to take a collection of stereo-pair images of a scene and then mechanically produce a photo-realistic, geometrically accurate digital 3D model.

Box modeling is a technique in 3D modeling where a primitive shape (such as a box, cylinder, sphere, etc.) is used to make the elementary shape of the concluding model. This elementary shape is then used to carve out the final model. The process uses a number of monotonous steps to reach the final product which can lead to a well-organized and more controlled modeling process.Box modelers often work in phases right from starting with a low-resolution mesh, refining the figure, and then sub-dividing the network to smooth out hard boundaries and add elements to it. The box modelling is probably the most common form of polygonal modeling and is often used in combination with edge modeling techniques.

NURBS is Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines. They are mathematical representations of 3‑D geometry that can precisely define any shape from a simple 2‑D line, circle, arc, or curve to the most complex 3‑D organic free-form surface or solid. Only because of their flexibility and accuracy, NURBS models can be used in any method from illustration and animation to manufacturing. NURBS curves are shaped with a tool that works very likewise to the pen tool in MS paint or Adobe Illustrator. The curve is drawn in 3D space and modified by moving a series of handles called CVs (control vertices). To model a NURBS surface, the artist places curves along projecting contours and the software automatically inserts the space between. Alternately, a NURBS surface can be created by turning a profile curve around a central axis. This is a common and very fast modeling technique for objects that are radial in nature .For e.g. in wine glass, vessels etc.

Procedural modelling is an authority term for a number of techniques in computer graphics to create 3D models and textures from sets of rules. For instance procedural modelling can be used to rapidly convert GIS data to a city scale 3D model. Procedural modelling techniques apply algorithms for producing scenes. The set of rules may either be embedded into the algorithm, configurable by parameters, or the set of rules is separate from the evaluation engine. The output is called procedural content, which can be used in urban planning, or the user may edit the content manually.
